NEWS FLASH!

Hey everyone! Hope your summer was grand!

I apologize for the lack of posts - I have been away most of the summer, but it is great to be back to whatever "normal" is!

So - had a nice long chat with Jennie last week - and I am excited about some new changes in the class and crop schedule!

Up until this time, Friday night has been Crop Night. I don't know about you, but I refer to Fridays as "FRIED day" because that is what I am - fried! So while I find papercafting very relaxing, the last thing I want to do on a FRIED day, is try and be creative.

Clearly I am not the only one who feels that way - so Jennie and Bob decided Friday night crops are history......

But wait - someone at Skribbles and Scraps had a brilliant thought! Crop Saturdays!!!!!! YEAH!

Yes - beginning later this month, Crop Saturdays are a reality! From noon until 5:00 pm. leave the kids and cares behind and spend it with like-minded papercrafters. They will be there looking for some sanity and to finish up old projects, begin new ones, and learn something new and have fun in the bargain.

Oh - and it is a bargain! Talk about incentive - Crop Saturday is $5.00 plus HST - BUT - that entitles you to 10% off any papercrafting purchases made that afternoon! It includes use of papercrafting tools, Sizzix, Cuttlebug and Cricket machines. (please bring your basic papercrafting kit)

One last thing - you must RESERVE your spot by Thursday before the Crop Saturday - 'cause space is limited. I have a feeling there will be no empty seats - especially with a nice discount to go along with the fun!

So - tell hubby you need some "me" time and that with the money you'll save on crafting supplies, you'll bring home the pizza!

Even I might be able to make it to Crop Saturdays! Will I see you there?

Summertime....and the livin' is easy.....

Well it's that time of year again - summertime! Long hot humid days, flip flops, ice cream and sitting on the deck just chillin'.......

Yup - those days we wished for in the dead of winter are here.

The summer is short though (I have already seen snow suits and winter gloves in some of the stores) and because we Canadians like to squeeze every minute we can out of the season - Bob and Jennie will be doing the same thing.

So this summer, like previous ones, they will be taking a few Friday nights off from "Open Crop Night"

So - if you are thinking of heading up to Skribbles and Scraps on a Friday night  - to get inspired, learn new techniques, chill with the girls (and Bob) or just do some paper crafting without the cat sitting on your work begging for attention, check the class schedule before you come to make sure they will be open!

And hey - you never know where you might run into Jennie and Bob on those Friday evenings that the store is closed - maybe frolicking on the beach in bikini and speedo, eating fries under the bridge, or just lounging around on a bench, watching the ships and reading......ahhhhh summertime!

Happy Birthday Bob!

Yes - it's Bob the Builder's birthday!

May 17th - many, many, many, many years ago......the Doctor slapped his bottom, Bob opened his mouth for the first time, and has been practicing his talking ever since!

If you have ever been in the store, you know Bob loves talking to people. It's one of the things he enjoys about the store. Ask him anything, and he will gladly engage you in a lively conversation.

Now, I doubt he will tell you how old he is, but you could try asking him. But I think you will agree he is young at heart. A bribe might help though....

So today, on his birthday, stop into the store, and maybe bring a piece of birthday cake, you know the kind, the one with no calories.

I've never seen him turn down a piece of cake, or a piece of pie, or a cookie, or a doughnut.....(as long as Jennie's not around that is) And I remember him telling me once that as long as it is a birthday cookie, or birthday doughnut  etc - it's calorie free you know.

I know Jennie has made some fun plans for the weekend to celebrate Bob's birthday - I think the best gift he has is being with Jennie everyday, don't you agree?

And by the way, I heard he has been in the wood shop again coming up with a new storage solution. It's a holder for Distress Ink Pads. I will try and get a picture to post for you - but I already have a feeling it will be a winner!

Happy Birthday Bob! Many, many more!

We'll be blogging about this.......

Apparently that's what the Skribbles and Scraps gang said to the Knight in shining armour that freed them from captivity when they were in Kitchener for Scrapfest a couple of weeks ago!

So here's what happened.....

On Saturday morning, they left the hotel early in the morning to go back to Scrapfest to prepare for the crowds of the day. They already had a strategy for rearranging the booth to fill the holes from all the product that sold on Friday night. They had their work cut out for them because they had to get it done before the doors opened that morning.

So - with no breakfast, and on a mission, they got into the elevator in the parking garage.

I guess the first clue something was not right was when the elevator did not stop level with the floor......but clearly, they had had no breakfast and were on a mission!  Opps! Missed that clue....

Immediately upon pushing the button to move up the one floor (one floor????? - seriously guys! one floor????)  they knew they were in trouble! Bet you're regretting not walking up the stairs!

What floor is this suppose to be?

Nothing moved! Despite hitting it a couple of times more (oh like that was going to fix it!) they realized they were trapped! No problem, they just hit the button to call for help.

They don't tell you about the buzzer!

Apparently.....when you press the button....not only do you get a voice that comes on to help you....but a buzzer that rings incessantly and very loudly!

Bob tried his best to muffle the sound - but to no avail! They said if they weren't awake before they got in the elevator - they certainly were then! They figured the buzzer was meant to drive you insane, so no matter how long it took to be freed, you would be so grateful you wouldn't complain about being trapped!

Here are a couple of things you don't want to hear when you are trapped in an elevator:

1. The voice on the phone saying they would send someone as soon as they could. But they weren't really sure how long that would be.....

2. The buzzer

3. The security man who arrived on the other side of the elevator say - "Oh no......"

4. The buzzer

5. The security man on the other side of the elevator talking to the elevator company service person "You're across town on another call?"

6. The buzzer

7. The confession that they were really not sure how long before the repair man would be there.....

8. The buzzer

9. "Sorry, no I can't turn off the buzzer......"

Things you would have heard coming out of the elevator:

1. Laughter!

2. The buzzer

3. "We have to be at a show!" (Like they cared!)

4. The buzzer

5. "When are you getting us out of here?"

6. The buzzer

7. "Who can I sue????? I want names!"

8. Laughter!

9. A few choice words that are not repeatable on the blog......

10. That damn buzzer!

11. "I'm glad I peed before I left the hotel...."

Then of course there was that horrible moment when the truth finally hit them.....they were trapped in an elevator with a man who, like any other man on the planet - could at any moment - pass gas! Here's a picture of that moment of terror!

Three faces of terror!

So - living with that fear for about 30 minutes.....their  Knight in shining armour finally arrived! Boy were they glad to see him!

The Shining Armour the Knight came in!

Yup - things are never dull for the Skribbles and Scraps gang! Who knows what adventure they will encounter next!

Another good reason to subscribe to the blog....'cause hey - you never know!
