Funny and real!

One of the new lines that Skribbles and Scraps will be carrying is from Art Impressions.  Check them out! I can't wait - because these stamps make me laugh out loud!

One of the series that they have is called "Girlfriends" and they just make me want to pull out my Copics and start colouring. There are so many ways to use these cards, and so many girlfriends I could send them to - they are sure to brighten anyone's day.

There is something to be said for cards that express your TRUE feelings - don't you think?

CHA Swag!

Hi friends!

I returned home last night from visiting family this long weekend, and while I loved doing that I find myself exhausted on this first work day. So - I am already looking forward to the weekend. How sad is that!

I hope the rest of you had fun whatever you were doing, and for those of you who were not on the roads with all the crazy traffic and were home relaxing, maybe doing some scrapbooking or making a card or two - I am drooling with envy!

I find that there are a lot of things in summer that distract from my playing with paper. While it is nice to be spontaneous and take off on a whim or just sit outside and enjoy the sun and flowers in my garden, I do miss being surrounded by paper, inks, bling, yards of ribbon and other fun things! It is that part of me that yearns for fall, and cooler days, and new Christmas paper! LOL!

OK, down to what I really want to talk about today: CHA SWAG!

Jennie and Bob went to Chicago and took Cathy and Sherry with them for the ride. They brought back all kinds of goodies, and they want to share them with you. They had so much swag, that Jennie has put together a number of yummy bags of treats that you could win!  The opportunity to win two of those bags starts today. Here's how.......

I heard from Cathy that if she was looking for Sherry at CHA, all she had to do was head to the Ranger booth, and Sherry would be parked in front of Tim, soaking it all in like a sponge! 


I don't blame her though, I was probably right beside her!   He is one talented guy, so nice and down to earth, and so talented (oops - already said that!)  - but he really is!!!!  

So, head on into the store and get a head start on collecting those ballots - don't wait until the day of the Anniversary Sale. And remember, the more ballots, the more chance you have of winning. 


Now that I think about it, I am not sure which one I want to win - hmmm, maybe both? I think I will just head over to the store this week and see how many ballots I can earn!

Confession time girls!

All those who have purchased something for crafting that later made you ask "WHAT WAS I THINKING?" please raise your hands......

I thought so!  Thanks for being honest - you can put your hands down now. I'll have to put mine down too to continue typing...LOL!

I am relatively new to card making and when I started I was clueless as to what I needed and what to buy. So, I took a lot of advice (much of it not so good), bought a lot of poor quality paper, weird stamps and even weirder tools. I bought "what was I thinking?" punches and really bad inks and products that to this day I have never used.  Then one day I wandered into Skribbles and Scraps and I have to say, I am quite a bit wiser now for having done so. 

When I look back at some of my first cards, I see how far I have come from those first attempts. I realize what a difference quality paper, proper tools, the right inks and  products make. I will always be grateful for Bob's guidance in the store and Jennie's patience in her classes.  

So, being a more mature card maker now, I make wise choices about my stamps, punches, products and tools etc........ 

Oh my, how I wish that were true! 

While my purchases are quality ones now, I have those cute little stamps that I still haven't used after 2 years  - or all the die cuts I thought I couldn't live without, the embossing folder I was sure would be used on any number of cards and hasn't been used at all.......well, you know where this is going..... 

Sometimes, I am ashamed to say, I buy something only to find a couple of months later when I decide to get organized, that I already had it - so now I have two of the same thing!

So, where is all this leading you ask? Well, it's time to get rid of all those "What was a thinking?" (WWIT?) items.

Skribbles and Scraps is having an Anniversary Sale on August 27. They are also hosting a Garage Sale that day as well.  Here's how it works:

1. Gather up all those WWIT? items. Be ruthless girls -  if you haven't used them by now, you probably won't!

2. Call the store and tell them that you want to sell your stuff at the Garage sale. You can sell as much as you can fit in a computer paper box (store will supply).

3. They will give you a code for the sale.

4. Label your items with your code and price them to sell (It is helpful to make a list of what you are selling).

5. Drop them off at the store - staff will take care of your items the day of the sale.

6. At the end of the day, any sales you have will be paid to you in the form of gift certificates redeemable at Skribbles and Scraps. 

So - this is your chance to get rid of the evidence of those WWIT? purchases and maybe even get a great deal on someone else's craft room treasures! You can use your gift certificates to buy new items for your fall paper crafting. It's a win - win situation!

The ancient art of quilling

Hey - you know those cute accents that you have seen on cards and scrapbook pages, that look very intricate and complicated? It's called quilling, and it is actually easy! With a couple of simple tools and supplies, you too can be creating your own accents. Your friends will think you are so talented!

Come out to a Beginner's quilling class at the store on September 17th from 10:30-1:30.  The cost is $30 for supplies and you receive a $5 coupon for the store. In this class you will learn all the basic shapes needed to create beautiful patterns. 

This class sold out in June, so don't put off calling Bob to reserve your spot. I heard this class had a ball quilling! Who would have thought that rolling paper would be so much fun!

While you're at it, sign up for the Intermediate class scheduled for October 1st. Same price, same $5 coupon for the store.

What Jennie and Bob were up to last week

Well - Riley and Chassie have already let everyone know that Jennie and Bob were away for Langdan's birth - but they had a good reason.....

They were attending the CHA convention in Chicago. I hear they had a great time........no details yet....only "what happens in Chicago stays in Chicago!" I will see what I can find out for you about all the fun!

For those of you who don't know - CHA stands for Craft and Hobby Association and is pronounced 

"C" "H" "A"  not cha......as in cha cha!  

It's where the industry struts it stuff, showcases the best they have to offer and previews the new products that will be hitting the shelves once CHA is over. It is held twice a year, the larger of the two shows happens in January in Anaheim California. 

There were 200 + companies represented there, and you will see a lot of their products showing up in the store over the next few months.

A new addition to the family!


Apparently I am being upstaged by the store mascots for this post......

Uncle Riley and Aunt Chassie are howling the announcement of the birth of their nephew, Langdan on July 21. Here's what they had to say:

"It's a good thing we were here, because Bob and Jennie were on a train coming back from CHA in Chicago when Langdan was born!  

Humans have it so easy, there was only one in the litter.  He weighed 8 lbs though - so we guess it is a good thing there was only one. He belongs to Jordan and Gillian who should be great parents because they have already had practice training their dog Kya.

He's a cute pup - (see pic below)  and apparently he has lots of hair.....which is always a good thing in our opinion.  We haven't had a chance to lick him yet - but we are betting that he tastes mighty good!  We can't wait to play with him.  

We also can't wait until he is old enough to come and visit, and drop food on the floor for us!

Oh, by the way - this means Jennie and Bob are now the "g" word......... you know what we mean....."

Is anybody still out there? 

Well......I wouldn't blame you if you wandered off somewhere. After all, the last post on this blog was March 22 - not 2011 but 2010!   Welcome back!   I promise to update more often than every 16 months!   LOL!

Jennie and Bob have been very busy lately, finding new and exciting things to play with.  If you haven't been in the store lately, come on in!  You will find a  lot of new stuff to fall in love with, new paper you can't live without - and more exciting products to inspire you to new heights of creativity.

It's a great way to beat the heat - spend a couple of hours exploring at Skribbles and Scraps!
