NEWS FLASH!

Hey everyone! Hope your summer was grand!

I apologize for the lack of posts - I have been away most of the summer, but it is great to be back to whatever "normal" is!

So - had a nice long chat with Jennie last week - and I am excited about some new changes in the class and crop schedule!

Up until this time, Friday night has been Crop Night. I don't know about you, but I refer to Fridays as "FRIED day" because that is what I am - fried! So while I find papercafting very relaxing, the last thing I want to do on a FRIED day, is try and be creative.

Clearly I am not the only one who feels that way - so Jennie and Bob decided Friday night crops are history......

But wait - someone at Skribbles and Scraps had a brilliant thought! Crop Saturdays!!!!!! YEAH!

Yes - beginning later this month, Crop Saturdays are a reality! From noon until 5:00 pm. leave the kids and cares behind and spend it with like-minded papercrafters. They will be there looking for some sanity and to finish up old projects, begin new ones, and learn something new and have fun in the bargain.

Oh - and it is a bargain! Talk about incentive - Crop Saturday is $5.00 plus HST - BUT - that entitles you to 10% off any papercrafting purchases made that afternoon! It includes use of papercrafting tools, Sizzix, Cuttlebug and Cricket machines. (please bring your basic papercrafting kit)

One last thing - you must RESERVE your spot by Thursday before the Crop Saturday - 'cause space is limited. I have a feeling there will be no empty seats - especially with a nice discount to go along with the fun!

So - tell hubby you need some "me" time and that with the money you'll save on crafting supplies, you'll bring home the pizza!

Even I might be able to make it to Crop Saturdays! Will I see you there?

Summertime....and the livin' is easy.....

Well it's that time of year again - summertime! Long hot humid days, flip flops, ice cream and sitting on the deck just chillin'.......

Yup - those days we wished for in the dead of winter are here.

The summer is short though (I have already seen snow suits and winter gloves in some of the stores) and because we Canadians like to squeeze every minute we can out of the season - Bob and Jennie will be doing the same thing.

So this summer, like previous ones, they will be taking a few Friday nights off from "Open Crop Night"

So - if you are thinking of heading up to Skribbles and Scraps on a Friday night  - to get inspired, learn new techniques, chill with the girls (and Bob) or just do some paper crafting without the cat sitting on your work begging for attention, check the class schedule before you come to make sure they will be open!

And hey - you never know where you might run into Jennie and Bob on those Friday evenings that the store is closed - maybe frolicking on the beach in bikini and speedo, eating fries under the bridge, or just lounging around on a bench, watching the ships and reading......ahhhhh summertime!

Happy Birthday Bob!

Yes - it's Bob the Builder's birthday!

May 17th - many, many, many, many years ago......the Doctor slapped his bottom, Bob opened his mouth for the first time, and has been practicing his talking ever since!

If you have ever been in the store, you know Bob loves talking to people. It's one of the things he enjoys about the store. Ask him anything, and he will gladly engage you in a lively conversation.

Now, I doubt he will tell you how old he is, but you could try asking him. But I think you will agree he is young at heart. A bribe might help though....

So today, on his birthday, stop into the store, and maybe bring a piece of birthday cake, you know the kind, the one with no calories.

I've never seen him turn down a piece of cake, or a piece of pie, or a cookie, or a doughnut.....(as long as Jennie's not around that is) And I remember him telling me once that as long as it is a birthday cookie, or birthday doughnut  etc - it's calorie free you know.

I know Jennie has made some fun plans for the weekend to celebrate Bob's birthday - I think the best gift he has is being with Jennie everyday, don't you agree?

And by the way, I heard he has been in the wood shop again coming up with a new storage solution. It's a holder for Distress Ink Pads. I will try and get a picture to post for you - but I already have a feeling it will be a winner!

Happy Birthday Bob! Many, many more!

We'll be blogging about this.......

Apparently that's what the Skribbles and Scraps gang said to the Knight in shining armour that freed them from captivity when they were in Kitchener for Scrapfest a couple of weeks ago!

So here's what happened.....

On Saturday morning, they left the hotel early in the morning to go back to Scrapfest to prepare for the crowds of the day. They already had a strategy for rearranging the booth to fill the holes from all the product that sold on Friday night. They had their work cut out for them because they had to get it done before the doors opened that morning.

So - with no breakfast, and on a mission, they got into the elevator in the parking garage.

I guess the first clue something was not right was when the elevator did not stop level with the floor......but clearly, they had had no breakfast and were on a mission!  Opps! Missed that clue....

Immediately upon pushing the button to move up the one floor (one floor????? - seriously guys! one floor????)  they knew they were in trouble! Bet you're regretting not walking up the stairs!

What floor is this suppose to be?

Nothing moved! Despite hitting it a couple of times more (oh like that was going to fix it!) they realized they were trapped! No problem, they just hit the button to call for help.

They don't tell you about the buzzer!

Apparently.....when you press the button....not only do you get a voice that comes on to help you....but a buzzer that rings incessantly and very loudly!

Bob tried his best to muffle the sound - but to no avail! They said if they weren't awake before they got in the elevator - they certainly were then! They figured the buzzer was meant to drive you insane, so no matter how long it took to be freed, you would be so grateful you wouldn't complain about being trapped!

Here are a couple of things you don't want to hear when you are trapped in an elevator:

1. The voice on the phone saying they would send someone as soon as they could. But they weren't really sure how long that would be.....

2. The buzzer

3. The security man who arrived on the other side of the elevator say - "Oh no......"

4. The buzzer

5. The security man on the other side of the elevator talking to the elevator company service person "You're across town on another call?"

6. The buzzer

7. The confession that they were really not sure how long before the repair man would be there.....

8. The buzzer

9. "Sorry, no I can't turn off the buzzer......"

Things you would have heard coming out of the elevator:

1. Laughter!

2. The buzzer

3. "We have to be at a show!" (Like they cared!)

4. The buzzer

5. "When are you getting us out of here?"

6. The buzzer

7. "Who can I sue????? I want names!"

8. Laughter!

9. A few choice words that are not repeatable on the blog......

10. That damn buzzer!

11. "I'm glad I peed before I left the hotel...."

Then of course there was that horrible moment when the truth finally hit them.....they were trapped in an elevator with a man who, like any other man on the planet - could at any moment - pass gas! Here's a picture of that moment of terror!

Three faces of terror!

So - living with that fear for about 30 minutes.....their  Knight in shining armour finally arrived! Boy were they glad to see him!

The Shining Armour the Knight came in!

Yup - things are never dull for the Skribbles and Scraps gang! Who knows what adventure they will encounter next!

Another good reason to subscribe to the blog....'cause hey - you never know!

Scrapfest was a blast!

Well - I finally caught up with Jennie and Bob to see how their latest adventure went - and it was a blast!

To start - I had no idea how much work was involved to take the show on the road! Jennie, Bob and Cathy packed for a couple of days to make sure there was a good selection of stock. Sherry went up as well on the Thursday and helped pack and load everything into the trailer  - and then the gang jumped into the car and off they went to Kitchener to set up. Apparently it was lots of fun and laughs along the way - ask Bob about Onroute - and see if he knows what it is now!

The group sure does travel well together - Sherry and Cathy hit the seat warmer button in synch, everyone teases Bob about his driving, Jennie is the main co-pilot, but Cathy and Sherry are the back seat drivers, and Bob just takes it in stride - never gets mad, maybe he just tunes them out???

Anyway, after a couple of hours unpacking and setting everything up, it was back to Sarnia for the night, making a mental note of the things they needed to bring the next day.

Friday morning they were on the road again, with more rearranging and set up, checking into the hotel and then back to the Aud to get ready for the doors to open.

Check out the pictures of the booth below.

Bob and Jennie - I think Jennie is giving Bob directions here.

Cathy - always knew where they put things!

Jess and Braedan on checkout.

Sherry tucked back in the  Make and Take corner

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hi, shop and do Make and Takes - you made the two days even more fun!

Stay tuned for more on the Scrapfest weekend. There were more adventures to tell!

On the Road Again......

Well - the Skribbles and Scraps gang will be hitting the road again this weekend. Bob, Jennie, Cathy and Sherry will be headed to Scrapfest in Kitchener on Friday. It is always such a great time! If you have never been - it should be on your must-do list. Check out the link. Scrapfest Kitchener 2012

If you don't have a ticket for Friday night - you're out of luck - it's sold out. But don't worry - Saturday is wide open and tickets are available at the door.

Bob and Jennie love seeing friends come back year after year - and they love meeting new friends! So - if you've been following the blog over the last year - come by and meet the gang in person!

Jennie always has some great make and takes prepared - and there is always a long lineup at their booth for both the make and takes (trust me, I know - I have been in it!) and for purchases  because of their great prices. But it's always worth the wait! They will have the latest products from the store and are always happy to give you ideas on how to use them.

Will we see you there? Hope so!

(Please note, the open crop for this Friday is cancelled because - hey - we're on the road again!

Bob the Builder!

Well - we're going to have to give Bob a new nickname - I am thinking "Bob the Builder"

Cathy sent me some pics of the punch rack he made for her - WOW WOW WOW!

In case you didn't know, Cathy has a hard time passing up a punch - she loves them! Storage however, is a problem when you love punches - so Bob came up with a solution. And it's on wheels too! Too cool!

Check out the pics:

Cleaver use of storage  - both sides, and the inside as well! Bob - you never cease to amaze me! I am guessing Skribbles and Scraps will get a few orders from others like Cathy who have just a few punches lying around!

What a day!

Well, I finally got a chance to touch base with Jennie about her wild weekend doing two shows the same day on March 24th.

The verdict - It was a blast!

Bob and Cathy went to Arkona with the scrapbooking crowd, and Jennie and Sherry were in Chatham for the card making day at St Clair College. The 4 of them set up Arkona the evening before, and Jennie and Sherry set up Chatham early that morning.

It was a lot of work to pack up on Friday  - especially since stock was going to 2 separate places. And if that wasn't enough - Jennie and staff prepared a different make and take for each venue! Crazy I know!

The make and takes were FABULOUS - thanks so much for your feedback to the all the girls and Bob. It made all that hard work worthwhile. They love teaching you how to use new products - and I hear Inka Gold was a hit!

Thanks again to all who came out and supported Skribbles and Scraps - you're the best!

Back to reality.....

They're back!
Well I finally heard from the crew that went down to CHA in Anaheim. They had a blast! The weather was perfect, the show was great, they hated to come home! Can you blame them?
Bob was saying something about selling the house and having Riley and Chassie shipped down! As you can see from the picture - he came back under protest - he practically had to be dragged away!

Cathy got some great pictures - she is quite the photographer, and seems to be an expert at wrapping sales reps around her finger!

Sherry loved watching Tim do his thing with his new toys, Jennie was already scheming on how to rearrange the store to make room for all the new goodies that they have ordered.
So - let me start out with Tim and his new toys - Distress Markers! Yup - 36 amazing markers to expand your creativity. Check out the  video here.

Jennie has some sets on order - she is offering them for $90 for a complete set - if you do the math, that comes out to $2.78 each! Call the store and reserve yours today! She will be incorporating these very cool markers into a future technique class.

Oh - and to make some room, Jennie has told Bob that some things just have to go! So hurry into the store to get the best selection of all Stamp Barn and Frogs Whiskers  stamps at 50% off. There is also more sale paper added the sale bin - $0.20 a sheet.

Cathy tells me you will not know the store when you go in - everything has been rearranged to make things more shopper friendly. I can't wait to see it!

Stay tuned in the next couple of weeks for more fabulous products news. It's going to be an exciting year!

New Copic colors!

It is so good to be back!  I've been down south for a bit - but it is good to be home sweet home.  Thanks to Riley and Chassie for holding down the blog for me.

There's a lot of things to talk about - I will start with new COPIC colours - Yeah!!!!

There is something very therapeutic about coloring - don't you agree? Here are 12 more reasons to color!

G43 Pistachio
G46 Mistletoe
BG57 Jasper
BG90 Gray Sky
E84 Khaki
E89 Pecan
BV34 Bluebell
V22 Ash Lavender
V28 Eggplant
RV52 Cotton Candy
R56 Currant
YR27 Tuscan Orange

You can check out the colors below:

Skribbles and Scraps are taking  preorders for the set of 12, at the great price of $65 for the set.

Let me save you pulling out the old calculator (does anyone really use a calculator anymore? - I use my cell phone!)  This great price for the set works out to $5.40 each. Gotta have them, and they are fabulous!

In February 2012 these yummy colors will be available in the
Sketch Marker style, as well as Various Ink, (refills) bringing them to a total of 358 colors.

So - if that wasn't wonderful enough for one post - there are only two more sleeps until Bob and Jennie leave for CHA Winter 2012 in Anaheim California.

I hear they are taking Cathy and Sherry again. That's a good thing - 'cause Cathy and Sherry are the ones that get all the good pictures of Bob and Jennie - you know - the evidence!

I heard about the ones they snapped in Chicago where Jennie and Bob fell asleep - in the lobby of the hotel....and it wasn't even their hotel! Ask them about that!

Winter CHA is much bigger than CHA Chicago is. That can only mean much more very neat stuff coming into the store in the next couple of months. I can't wait until they get back to get the scoop!

Just so you know - the store will be open as usual while they are gone. Riley and Chassie and grandma are minding the fort. No crop night on Friday night though. That will give you a free night to make sure there is room in your craft room for all the fabulous new products you know you can't be without!

Don't forget to call and preorder your set of Copics. Reminds me - I need to call and order my set!

And don't fret if you call and Bob's not there - Riley and Chassie will take your orders!

And the first word is Riley and Chassie's!

Well – Happy New Year everyone! Riley and Chassie here. Remember us - the cute ones? We told Sparkles to take a break – that we would handle the first post. Sorry it has taken so long….we ARE dogs you know, and it’s hard to type with your paws.

We overheard Bob and Jennie talking, and they have lots of very cool human stuff planned for 2012. Jennie will be doing some Technique classes – featuring Ranger Products (‘cause for some reason they seem to love this Tim guy - and he's not even a dog.)

Bob is sourcing out new and exciting things to bring into the store this year. He is kinda a hunter of sorts….and we love that he spends the day in the store on the hunt and feeds us “accidentally” by dropping things. He is just an all round cool dude in our books (ah…do we have books???)

We do have a bone to pick with Bob and Jennie though…..we heard they were going away again. This time they are going to California – to CHA Winter 2012 – and they are leaving us at home! Not fair! Give us a pair of sunglasses, and we can be really cool California dogs just like in the song….” I wish they all could be California …..dogs……..” You know - the Beach Boys song....

They have a habit of leaving us at important times. Remember when they went to CHA last summer in Chicago? They left us here to deal with the birth of their first grandchild. Again – it was a good thing we were here to deal with everything. Riley and Chassie to the rescue as usual!

Speaking of leaving us at important times – did you know they left us alone on New Year’s Eve? That’s one of the most important food dropping days of the year….and no one was around to drop anything!

They both got really dressed up, and told us they were going to Jordan and Gillian’s wedding. Bark! Bark! Another important food dropping event! What were they thinking leaving us at home?

We to this day don’t know if they really went to a wedding – we have never seen any pictures. We’re sure there were tons of young people with cell phones with cameras in them….and yet not one picture was taken! Humans! They were probably so busy dropping food on the floor all night, they didn't have time to take pictures! So – we’ll believe there was a wedding when we see the proof. We can tell you though -that Bob and Jennie look really good when you clean them up….we are the witnesses!

So – stay tuned for an even better year than 2011. Come in to the store and we will give you the scoop on what’s to come. We can be easily bought. All we ask is that you drop a little food……

Riley and Chassie
